WORKSHOP 3:
Integrating Systems and Psychoanalytic Approaches in Couples Psychotherapy

Couples often
engage in repetitive patterns that cause ongoing confusion and
frustration. This presentation
focuses on integrating psychoanalytic and family systems thinking to understand difficult couple interactions. It will also include
how to intervene at intergenerational, intrapsychic and interpersonal levels to
help couples replace old dysfunctional patterns with new relational
experiences.
Suzanne
Iasenza, PhD, is a faculty member of the PPSC, ICP and Adelphi University
Derner Institute. She is a
psychotherapist and sex therapist in private practice in New York City. She is co-editor of the books Lesbians and
Psychoanalysis: Revolutions in Theory and Practice and Lesbians, Feminism and
Psychoanalysis: The Second Wave.
